In the aftermath of heavy rains and flooding in Nova Scotia, which damaged the Canadian National (CN) railway line connecting the port of Halifax to the rest of the country, CN Rail is continuing to assess the situation while crews work to repair affected tracks. CN has advised that they are currently estimating that the track will be passable by Friday, July 28th. Please be mindful that a safe start up will come with some slow passage, and CN will need to clear traffic that was stranded in the area. Damage from the storm will continue to impact rail service to/from the city of Halifax, the surrounding area, and the Port of Halifax for the coming days. CN has stressed that, while a return to regular service is their goal, the safety of their crews and support personnel is their primary concern as they initiate this recovery plan.
