Port of Halifax Alert: Rail Service Temporarily Disrupted

Port of Halifax Alert: Rail Service Temporarily Disrupted - Universal Logistics Trade Alerts - July 25, 2023

Toronto, July 25, 2023

The devastating floods in Nova Scotia have taken out the Canadian National (CN) railway line that connects the port of Halifax to the rest of the country, disrupting services in the region with no word on when they will resume. Transport Canada is working collaboratively with CN to ensure that the issue is addressed as soon as possible. While the impacted track is the sole rail link between the Port of Halifax to the rest of the country, vessel service at the terminals has not been impacted and cargo movements from the port via road transport continue.
