With a number of tariffs already in place, in the coming days we’ll know whether or not the full 25 percent tariff on Canadian imports to the U.S. will be imposed by US President Donald Trump, followed, in turn, by Canada’s retaliatory tariffs of 25 percent.
Here are the tariffs currently in effect:
USA
- 25% tariffs on goods that do not satisfy U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) rules of origin
- 25% tariff on steel and aluminum (and derivatives) effective March 12, 2025
Canada’s Retaliatory Tariffs
- 25% tariff on $30 Billion of US origin goods, effective March 4, 2025
- 25% tariff on $29.8 Billion of US origin goods, effective March 13, 2025
- 25% tariff on $125 Billion of US origin goods, to become effective April 2, 2025
