New guidelines for handling of Non-Compliant Wood Packaging

Wood packaging

Cargo imported into Canada with non-compliant wood packaging will no longer be automatically exported out of Canada.  Instead, the cargo will be allowed to stay in Canada if it is “operationally feasible” to remove the non-compliant packaging.

The Port or Terminal accepting the cargo with the non-compliant packaging can insist on export out of Canada if the packaging cannot be removed or there is evidence of live, wood-boring pests.

Quick Tip #57
When Incoterms are incomplete

The shipping term FOB (Free on Board) is incomplete when the port of shipment and country are omitted. Moreover, you could end up paying extra if an incorrect assumption (guess) is made about your port of shipment (many countries have multiple ports of shipment).
