The Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC) has served Canadian National Railway (CN) with a 72-hour strike notice, hours after saying it was taking down picket lines and workers were returning to the job.
The work stoppage at Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) also continues pending an order from the Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB).
The TCRC feels the actions of the federal government, more specifically, Labour Minister Steven Mackinnon’s decision to refer the dispute to the CIRB to impose binding arbitration, is unacceptable and they will use their “constitutional right” to fight for a fair deal.
We are monitoring the situation very closely and will advise accordingly.
